Just like cars engines, regular maintenance is crucial for a smooth running system.
The best way to do this?
Is by using a complete flush service for your central heating system.
In this handy guide set out by our boiler engineers, we’ll be helping you through the different types of system flush and why our engineers highly recommend the MagnaCleanse
What is a system flush and why do you need it?
Over time the water within your central heating system will eventually be contaminated with rust and other unwanted elements. If a flush isn’t carried out by a boiler engineer when it is needed, the water in your heating system will turn to rust, debris, and dirt will become a ‘sludge’ like substance preventing your system from functioning as well as it should.
If left unattended, soon your boiler will break down, your radiators will need replacing which could run in to thousands of pounds to put right.
Depending on your current boiler, you may only need a flush once every 5 years or so. If you’re unsure or would like some further advice on when your boiler’s next flush is due, chat with one of our expert boiler engineers by calling 01604 212732.
What is a MagnaCleanse?
Our boiler engineers will always recommend a MagnaCleanse over any other type of flush. Why? it’s a highly effective way of keeping your system clean, smooth, and protected. – your boiler is in safe hands with THS Plumbing & Heating Northampton
The MagnaCleanse system flush is the process of clearing your system of those harsh, unwanted materials in your heating system. MagnaCleanse is a new flushing process designed to maintain and protect all domestic central heating systems from the damaging effects of iron oxide sludge build up. Together with a MagnaClean filter this service will last the lifetime of your boiler and helps to reduce central heating energy bills by a further 10%.
A MagnaCleanse flush delivers an extremely effective solution where a power flush wouldn’t. It not only removes just as much sludge from the heating system as a power flush, it also provides ongoing lifetime protection with the installation of a MagnaClean filter.
What’s good about the MagnaCleanse is that you can leave it running for days (if needed) without it affecting the purpose of the heating system. Unlike a power flush, the MagnaCleanse won’t put your boiler under stress because it uses the boilers pump and not a high pressure power flush pump.
What is a Power Flush?
A power flush is one of the older cleaning processes for a central heating system.
It includes chemicals that will remove sludge and rust, a descaler to remove limescale and corrosion inhibitor to help prevent future rust from forming.
A power flush to your central heating system is recommended every 5 years to keep your boiler in tip top condition and working as you’d expect. Reasons why we don’t do many power flushes is because it puts your central heating system and boiler under unnecessary pressure and can be, in some cases, be very messy.
