Was called out this week on an emergency call out after the homeowner said the floor in her extension was leaking in multiple locations.

It turns out that her mains cold water pipes were leaking under the floor in her extension. The pipes were not wrapped to protect the copper, it had been laid straight on the screed causing the cooper to have multiple pin holes.

The builder that did all this cut corners and has now caused a lot of money in damage.

Another instance why you shouldn’t get your builder to do the plumbing on your project.

What to do if your pipes are leaking?

As soon as you suspect that you have a plumbing problem, you should call a professional plumber local to your area, most plumbers offer a 24-hour emergency number, so if you discover a problem in the early hours you can use the emergency number.

If you live in Northampton and you find a leak, you can trust THS Plumbing & Heating to sort the problem out. Call us ASAP on (Northampton) 01604 212732

In this case, the owner was able to get the builder to pay for the damage that was caused due to his lack of plumbing knowledge.

Homeowners insurance may help cover damage caused by leaking pipes in your plumbing, if the leak is sudden and accidental, such as if a washing machine supply hose suddenly breaks or a pipe bursts. However, homeowners insurance does not cover damage resulting from poor maintenance.
