As we alright know, underfloor heating is an alternative to traditional radiators and hot air systems. And we already know that underfloor heating is quite expensive if you choose the wet underfloor system, costing between £5,000 to £15,000, depending on the size of your home and how many rooms you want it installed.
We were installing a wet underfloor heating system in Wellingborough this week and costing just over £9,000. The installation is a big job, and if you’re already having floor work done on your home, the installation can be much easier and can cost less. And if you’re not already having work on your floor, the installation can cost a lot more. So before thinking about a wet underfloor heating system, you need to think about the cost!
More about Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating can be either a ‘wet’ system that pumps warm water through pipes under the floor, or ‘dry’ system of electric coils placed under the floor. Underfloor heating uses the basic principle of heat rising, check out the image below.

Electric underfloor heating
Electric underfloor heating is far cheaper to install than the wet system.
The electric heating wires are fairly thin, making them easier and cheaper to install than a water-based system.
The electric underfloor heating system is more suited to smaller areas because of the cost of running the system, it can be slightly pricier to run.
If the electric system is something you’d like to have, maybe in your kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, we highly recommend contacting ST Electrical Northampton for a quote.
